Middlebury College Traveled to the Women’s World Cup and Back!
Middlebury College women’s soccer returned from a ten day trip to France during which they explored Grenoble, Paris, and attended a Women’s World Cup match. The tour began in Grenoble where the team visited the lovely old houses, narrow cobblestone lanes, and little squares and even took a day trip to Lyon. Of course the tour was full of soccer related activities including several training sessions and games versus local clubs Grenoble38, Olympique Lyonnaise, and Pôle France Football Féminin.
In Paris, the team traveled to the outer communities to participate in a community service activity. They shared a meal with the community members and heard the touching story of a refugee speaking about the challenges she faced. The team brought soccer balls with them and connected with the locals through their love of the game by forming juggling circles. Middlebury capped of their tour by watching France take on South Korea in the Women’s World Cup. The team was amazed by the French spectators singing along with La Marseillaise, their national anthem. Their voices filled Le Parc des Princes Stadium and left an impression on the team that they will remember for years to come.
After the tour, Peter Kim stated: What a fantastic trip! We just returned from a 9-day tour that coincided with the start of the World Cup. Between college, club, and coaching excursions, this was my tenth time travelling with Premier, and they always provide an experience that is fun and meaningful to my teams, my staff, and myself. Loek, Mike, and their crew are the pinnacle of professionalism, and will go the extra mile to enhance their tours. I would strongly recommend Premier International Tours to anyone looking to explore other soccer cultures and connect with soccer people around the world. As my players and I parted ways back in the US, one of them summed it up: “Thanks for the trip of a lifetime!” Thanks, Premier, for another fantastic foreign tour. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
