The Dallas Texans Soccer Club has returned home after their 2017 international tour!
The Dallas Texans Soccer Club has returned home after their 2017 international tour! The Texans traveled with 3 teams, 2001 girls, 2002 boys, and 2003 boys. Kicking off their tour the IberCup Barcelona, 2001 girls team lost in the final against Sporting CP from Portugal and played against teams from Portugal and Spain. The 2002 boys lost in the final against Sockers FC from Chicago and played against teams from Argentina, Israel, Canada, Portugal, France, and Kenya. The 2003 boys team lost in the final against CF Os Belenenses from Portugal and played against teams from Australia, Brazil, Sweden, US and Gibraltar. Off the field the Texans took in the Spanish culture by touring the city of Barcelona, went on a stadium tour of Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona, and visited the famous Sagrada Familia. All three teams had a great start to the beginning of their international tour!
After their time in Barcelona they flew to Gothenburg, Sweden to participate in the Gothia Cup. During the tournament, the 2001 girls team lost in the playoffs and played against teams from Germany and Sweden. The 2002 boys team lost in the quarter finals and played against teams from Kenya, South Africa, France and Sweden. The 2003 boys team lost in the playoffs and played against teams from Sweden and England. During their time in Sweden outside of the tournament they visited the Gothenburg Harbor, the largest port out of all the Nordic countries, and they took some time to walk around the city of Gothenburg taking in the architecture and enjoying the local food.
