The Putnam City North High School boys soccer team embarked on a soccer trip to England!

The Putnam City North High School boys soccer team from Putnam City, OK embarked on a trip to England July 22-30, 2016. For many young athletes on the team this was their first time venturing outside of the U.S. and it was a trip they will soon no forget. The group started off the first leg of the trip in London where they played 2 games against local London area teams Brackley Town F.C. and AFC Croydon Athletic. The team was able to take in the famous sights of London as well including the Tower of London, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and saw the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. The team even attended Solemn Mass at Westminster Cathedral. The team also got to tour the iconic Wembley Stadium, home stadium of the English National team!

After London the group headed up North to the Chester/Manchester are of England where they spend the 2nd leg of the trip. In Chester the team played two more against local clubs Vauxhall Motors F.C. and Airnus Academy. The team toured Old Trafford stadium and museum, home of Manchester United and did some great sightseeing in Chester including a day trip Liverpool (home of the Beatles), city visit of Manchester and its famous sights.

Head Coach of the team, Tom Pecore, said of the trip, “I have taken my high school team to several wonderful soccer adventures to include Spain, Germany, Austria and England and each one has been a positive learning experience for all, especially this latest trip to England. The accommodations, soccer matches and cultural experiences met and exceeded our expectations.
